Health Services

STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES: 

• Health care: Providing first aid, emergency care, medication administration, and other direct nursing services.

• Health teaching: Educating students and faculty on health, hygiene, and disease prevention.

• Assessment and evaluation: Planning, assessing, intervening, evaluating, and reassessing students with health conditions or disabilities.

• Collaboration: Working with students, families, school personnel, and community agencies.

    IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS:

Minnesota School Immunization Law requires all students enrolled in grades Kindergarten through 12th grade to show they have received required immunizations or have exemption paperwork on file. Public school districts are required by MN law ( MS 121A.15 ) to maintain immunization records for all students, including homeschooled students. 

MEDICATION:

Parents may request that the school district administer medication to their child when it is necessary for the medication to be administered during the school day. 

Prescription Medication:

• A Medication Administration Form is required to be filled out each school year, signed by a physician/licensed medical provider and parent/guardian, and turned into the Health Office.

• The medication needs to be brought in the original container that is labeled by the pharmacy.

Non-prescription Medication:

• The Health Office does not have Tylenol/ Motrin or any other over-the-counter medication to distribute to students.

• A OTC Medication Administration Form is required to be filled out each school year, signed by a parent/guardian, and turned into the Health Office.

• The medication needs to be supplied to the school and brought in the original container.
