DGF Schools participates in the Minnesota Free School Meal Program, which provides one free reimbursable breakfast and lunch meal to each student every school day. This program is designed to ensure that all students have access to nutritious meals, helping to support their overall health and academic success. We are proud to be part of this initiative, which works to eliminate barriers to healthy eating for all students in our district.
While students in our district receive free meals through the Minnesota Free School Meal Program, it is still essential for families to complete the annual Meal Benefit Form. Completing this form helps secure critical funding and provides numerous benefits to students and the school community, including:
Increased School Funding: The information on the form helps our district secure additional funding to provide the support students need for a comprehensive, high-quality education.
College Application Fees: Families may qualify for discounts on application fees for select colleges, making higher education more accessible.
Academic Test Fees: Students may be eligible for discounts on fees for academic tests such as the SAT or ACT.
Athletics & Activities: Discounts may be available for fees related to participation in athletics and extracurricular activities.
Technology: Additional funding may be allocated to improve technology infrastructure, including internet access, wireless, and network services.
Community Education: Students may receive reduced fees for Community Education programs, making learning opportunities more affordable.
Early Childhood: Families may receive reduced fees for Early Childhood programs
For families already receiving public assistance, such as Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP), or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), completing the form with the case number(s) instead of household income information can streamline the process.
