What is Dollars for Scholars?

Our chapter is part of a national organization called Scholarship America which is the nation's largest scholarship organization in the U.S.. Scholarship American has ranked as the top education charity for five consecutive years by Smart Money magazine.

History of the DGF Dollars for Scholars

DGF Dollars for Scholars chapter was formed in 1989. The DGF Dollars for Scholars chapter has given out multiple scholarships each year. Last year, $18,100 was given out to 26 students ranging from $500-$1,000. Through the gifts of individuals, businesses and service clubs, our endowment fund has now grown to over $300,000. It is through earnings and growth of this endowment fund, that we are able to fund the scholarships provided.

FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)

All college bound students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid; PIN registration:

Items needed to complete FAFSA:

  • Record of Income earned two years prior to when you will begin college (i.e. beginning college in August 2020, income records 2018)

  • Social Security Number

  • Driver's License

  • W-2 forms

  • Untaxed Income Records

  • Current Bank Statements

  • Current business and investment mortgage information, business and farm records, and stock, bond and other investments
